NAFPLIO'S ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Archaeological Museum of Nafplio is home to a miriad of findings from archaeological sites all around the Argolida. Visit the museum in the heart of Nafplion, in the Syntagma Square and see the famous "Armor of Dendra", a bronze armor and helmet belonging to what must have been a distinguished warrior. The Nafplion War Museum is an Annex of the Athens War Museum and is house in the First Military School of Greece, the 'Evelpidon'. Inside this gorgeous neoclassical building you will find military uniforms worn by the Greeks as well as weapon used thoughout different times. A unique museum in Nafplio is the Komboloi Museum, also located in the Old Town. This museum was founded be a couple that travelled the world exploring the phenomenon of 'Komboloi', worry-beads, rosaries and prayer beads, from Hindu & Buhddist culture to Catholic and Orthodox tradition. Today the museum has an exhibition of rare pieces collected by the founders and a workshop making perfect replicas and new designs.

Nafplio has it's own annex of the National Gallery in Athens, housed in a wonderful neoclassical building very close to the Old Town. The main exhibition is focused around the Greek Revolution, portaying the struggle of the Greeks for independence from the Ottoman Empire as seen from an array of painters and artists from all over Europe. Ligourio is where you will find the area's Natural History Museum, only about 25 minutes from Tolo. The Kotsiomiti museum explores prehistoric times from millions of year ago up to Neolithic Argolida. See minerals, crystals, fossils from millions of years ago and early stone tools made by people living in the region and a collection of ammonite said to be one of the most complete collections in Europe.
